Gérard recounts a life of illiteracy, his struggle to exist. Now 47, he can finally read and write, yet these simple things in everyday life continue to be frightening and paralysing. How, then, can he have a job? How can he become a father and pass on his knowledge? How can he learn to love himself again?
This film chronicles the adventure of a man in search of his identity. It is the story of his journey towards knowledge. An inner journey to reclaim his image, his place in society, and finally become the protagonist of his own life again.
